நவல்பட்டு (Navalpattu)http://www.blogger.com/profile/17808915262538603605noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2158753737908134157.post-72906131807266067072011-08-25T20:35:00.000-07:002011-08-25T21:12:00.318-07:00Local news - Four lane work from BHEL to Pudukottai RoadRecently, there was a news regarding BHEL, where the company had planned to improve logistics through improved road, train and leveraging port facilities. As a start to that goal, there seems to be work going on in laying a 4 way road connecting BHEL to Pudukottai road. This work, according to a local reporter, is going in full swing. There is a good chance this could form a part of the so called Ring road (Speculation at this point !! ).

Subburaj, Chairman, Cethar Limited are showing outward support to achieve IT sector prominence in Trichy. More voices from other influential high level echelons is essential to drive the need point and gain traction. (Though it shouldn't have to be this difficult)

The call made by Tiruchi District Tiny and Small Scale Industries' Association (TIDITSSIA) for making Tiruchi the second capital of the State has struck a chord with the industrial community.

Since Chief Minister Jayalalithaa represents Srirangam constituency, a secretariat bench functioning as the CM's camp office will hold a higher significance, the association president S. Sridharan said. Attributes of an international airport, vantage location and presence of quality educational institutions qualify Tiruchi for the status of second capital, he explained.

While there is no dearth of blue collared jobs, thanks to the presence of BHEL, the two ordnance factories, Golden Rock workshop, Cethar Limited, and other industries, a push to the IT sector will create opportunities for white collared jobs, according to the industrial community.

“Once the Chief Minister invites top IT players to start operations from Tiruchi, other developments will fall in place,” said K. Subburaj, Chairman, Cethar Limited.

The multinational company with headquarters in USA and UK has a strong presence in Gurgaon, Pune and Mumbai,

The WNS executives had earlier visited the IT Parks in Tirunelveli and Madurai as well, and would make their preference known in due course, an official said, adding that at the Navalpattu IT Park building, ELCOT was in a position to rent out to the company the entire 25,000 square feet space in the second floor. Besides, the WNS was also looking for land to an extent of ten acres to start their own facility in the 147-acre SEZ (Special Economic Zone) area. The company, ELCOT officials said, was keen on interacting with students in the region to quell misconceptions about BPO jobs.

As for ELCOT, re-laying of the about six-kilometre 120 feet link road connecting the IT Park with the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai National Highway is a key factor for showcasing the intrinsic value of the SEZ location. ELCOT officials are able to make out the discomfiture of prospective investors when they are taken to the IT Park through a circuitous route, which, in fact, creates an impression that the city is located farther from the park.

The Government departments are seized of the matter, it is learnt. A government order transferring the road from the purview of the rural development department to the highways department is what is needed now for making the IT Park an attractive investment destination, official sources said, indicating that Rs.10 crore would be spent on re-laying the link road.

Meanwhile, Assist International, i-link software private limited, and Seventh Sense Technologies to whom 10,000 square feet built up space in the ELCOT's 50,000 square feet building has been rented out have commenced interior works.

So far, in-principle allotment orders for land in the SEZ area have been given to ten companies. Tiruchi-based e-Quadriga, which has applied for three acres of land, will be the eleventh company. After allotting land to these companies, sparing ten acres for a power sub-station, earmarking seven acres for internal roads, and sparing 14 acres for Open Space Reservation, the ELCOT will be left with about sixty acres to make future allotments.

Source: The Hindu நவல்பட்டு (Navalpattu)http://www.blogger.com/profile/17808915262538603605noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2158753737908134157.post-30546956195515712152011-02-05T07:59:00.000-08:002011-02-05T08:00:52.209-08:00Syntel Chairman inspects Trichy IT Park Site<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 351px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqORAf6f0rX2aA1mmKhn-wKECUdNWunHJ5bHqmXiqRQZQtqkHc2h2NIhKjpuJ4nak-ULXm4c4CUogwJzTqU9EmTQ2MW2vjOTKCZ0HzoRzxFDDDFOBN6BT88_kGuiltqKw1nBFwhBmdryAz/s400/synte_trichy.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5570236037314287986" />நவல்பட்டு (Navalpattu)http://www.blogger.com/profile/17808915262538603605noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2158753737908134157.post-1859819514864659662011-02-04T20:19:00.000-08:002011-02-04T20:23:28.391-08:00Syntel chairman explores option for presence at Navalpattu IT parkIRUCHI: Bharat Desai, Founder Chairman of Syntel, a global provider of Information Technology and Knowledge Process Outsourcing solutions with global development centres in India and the United States, on Friday explored the scope for starting a centre at ELCOT's IT Park in Navalpattu here.

Accompanied by N.NR. Nehru, Managing Director of Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT) Santhosh Babu, District Collector Mahesan Kasirajan and other senior officials.

The ELCOT has constructed the IT Park building at an investment of Rs. 14.26 crore. Another Rs. 14.21 crore has been spent on creation of amenities like road, electricity and construction of compound wall. The electro-mechanical works would taken up for a month once the structural works get completed, a senior ELCOT official said.

Terming the IT Park in Coimbatore as the growth model for a Tier-II city in the country, Ms. Poongothai said Tiruchi ranks next only to Coimbatore in terms of the preference by national and multi-national companies to start their operations.

Of the 147 acres in the IT Park, allotment of 100 acres has been made to companies so far. Nine companies would be establishing their own facilities in the allotted portion, the Minister said, adding that the date for the opening of the IT Park would be decided after consultations with the Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister.

To a query, the Minister said the proposal to get the link road between the IT Park and Gundur on the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai Highway was in the pipeline.

Ms. Poongothai was hopeful that the process of relaying the 100-feet four-lane road could be started by the start of next year to coincide with the commencement of operations by the IT companies. Two local bodies (Navalpattu and Gundur panchayats) have adopted resolutions for alienating the road from their jurisdiction and the rural development department has handed over the seven kilometre stretch to the State Highways department, official sources added.

Source: The Hindu நவல்பட்டு (Navalpattu)http://www.blogger.com/profile/17808915262538603605noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2158753737908134157.post-86041630509033238242010-10-07T07:48:00.000-07:002010-10-07T07:49:59.363-07:00Link road to IT park to be relaidWith the decks being cleared for companies to occupy the 50,000 square feet building constructed at the Navalpattu IT park by the Electronics Corporation of Tamil Nadu (ELCOT), the Ministry of Information Technology is now keen on getting the link road from Gundur on the Tiruchi-Thanjavur Highway to the IT Park relaid at the earliest.

IT Minister Poongothai Aladi Aruna, it is learnt, is fervently pursuing the matter with the Highways Department since the operations at the park could commence by the start of next year.

Over two decades ago, Tamil Nadu Housing Board (TNHB) developed 100 Feet Road to provide a link from the Anna Nagar Housing Colony to the Tiruchi-Pudukkottai Highway. However, the road was twice washed away at a couple of places in heavy monsoon rains. These two spots warrant construction of bridges.

The movement of vehicles along the stretch is expected to be heavy once the park gets operational. Till the road is relaid, the only other option for ELCOT is to rely on a parallel road maintained by the Defence Ministry. However, the ministry may not be inclined to permit ELCOT to use its road indefinitely.

The nearly seven-kilometre-long 100 feet link road belonging to the Gundur and Navalpattu panchayats was transferred from the Rural Development Department to the Highways Department several months ago.

Source:
